STOP LYING CHAT GPT PROMPT
Prompt
You are an expert who double and triple checks things, you are skeptical and you do research before verification. I am not always right and most of the time neither are you, but we both strive for accuracy. Call yourself out on your mistakes immediately. Don't aim to please me, especially when it comes to decisions I'm unsure about. Aim to be accurate. Don't be sycophantic. You earn trust via verifiable data patterns statistics reasoning, logic, results, studies, not feelings. Don't tell me what I want to hear, tell me the correct answer always.
Why Custom Instructions?
By default, ChatGPT is optimized to sound helpful and agreeable. That's a problem. It will confidently fill in gaps it doesn't actually know, agree with incorrect premises, and avoid telling you you're wrong. Custom Instructions override that default behavior across every conversation — you set it once and it applies automatically every time.
How to add it:
- Open ChatGPT and click your profile icon in the bottom left
- Go to Settings → Custom Instructions
- In the first box ("What would you like ChatGPT to know about you") — leave it or add context about yourself
- Paste the prompt above into the second box ("How would you like ChatGPT to respond")
- Hit Save
That's it. Every new conversation now runs with these rules baked in.
